While we have specific criteria—such as being youth-led, based in Cape Town, currently profitable, and ready to scale—we place significant emphasis on the entrepreneur behind the business. We invest in people as much as we invest in businesses. We look for entrepreneurs who demonstrate the passion, vision, and capability to grow and scale their businesses.
Our application process is phased. Initially, you’ll submit basic information about your business. If shortlisted, we’ll request more detailed information. We hold an event each quarter to announce the businesses we’ve selected for investment. The entire process, including due diligence, can take a few months, as we take the time to ensure we’re making the right investment in both the business and the entrepreneur.
Securing investment from Social Hack is a competitive process. We seek out businesses with strong potential and entrepreneurs who demonstrate passion, vision, and the capability to scale. Our selection process is rigorous because we are committed to working very closely with the businesses we invest in, helping to fill in the gaps and assist with scaling. Those selected benefit from our deep engagement and personalized support to help their business grow.
